They appear to me like spoiled sassy princesses that ALWAYS need a man to come and rescue or save them.

Think about all the movies they play in and how incredibly dependant they are ... how unhappy and even miserable life is without a man. If I were a woman (I could say a heck of a lot of things here but won't) I'd be upset at how they represented my gender. But women eat thier movies UP! Incredible? Many women have worked hard to show that they are self reliant, that having a partner in life is preferable but not absolutely necessary for survival or happiness. And characters like these and the women who love them (wasn't that a book?) are not only not helping the cause but are hurting it. I've always thought those types of movies were crap and now have a reason for you to think so too.

Now, look at the second list of actresses. They seem like quiet, confident, mature individuals (to be fair, again I don't know them in real life - they could be losers for all I know) who take roles in movies because they appeal to them at the time. Maybe it helps them grow at that particular junction in their life or maybe it sounds fun to them. The are also very aware and careful of the roles they play and the impact their movie will have on the audience. Even while being socially responsible they are still able to be attractive, still able to make money, still able to be famous, still able to get movies they want ... how do I know? Cause they call me first to ask for advice as I am on their speed dial. Obviously! They also do not mind nudity in their films if it calls for it (they are not 'above' that), they do not mind being vulnerable and taking risks and do not mind trying something new. We need more like em, plain and simple.

... Hold on ... Speilberg is on line 1 for me. I usually make him wait ... :)

Being Made An Example Of ?

Marion Jones on the left here for those who don't know here is a Olympic U.S. sprinting champion who got caught using steriods and is going to spend 6 months in jail.

Now I like the fact that people are getting caught and I like the fact that 'big fish' as well as small are targetted. But what I don't like and what I see happening is that there is mounting pressure to do something about the long standing almost eternal steroid problem and so enforcers are picking on a select few like Marion here. They think that it 'shows' the people that they are 'serious' about it and that they have responded to our demands. They hope that we will be calmed by it and REALLY hope that they look good because that's what many people in power really prioritize.

But what ends up happening is that the hammer comes down hard on an unlucky few and that's it. Not really fair is it? I mean she should be punished but a lot of things SHOULD be done that aren't being done. Steroids are a big problem and it takes 'work' and money to tackle it and why would those in power want to do or spend that? Besides, if we really pull on the thread we'll find that so many people in so many sports were on the 'juice' that much of the sporting world would come crubmling down and piss off, destroy, bankrupt and shame too many people. So for now, let's just catch a few big fish and show everyone that we 'mean business'. Shame.

Below you'll see a picture of Barry Bonds who's also being chased by everyone. Ben Jonson who Canada hung out to dry as if he was the only one ever in history to cheat. When he won the gold, WE won the gold. When he got caught cheating, he was alone.

The next pictures are of two men ... um ... sorry ... I mean one female East German swimmer - who we all turned a blind eye to because we were scared she'd beat the shit out of us in Montreal at the Olympics - and one male bodybuilder who SWEARS he only takes vitamins. We believe you both are innocent. I am also hearing that Amnesty International is coming to help defend your human rights to protect you from those who doubt your sincerity. I mean cmon! Even if the swimmer speaks like a man (and didn't the year before) and bench presses hummers all day - and even if we need to draw up a new anatomy chart for the bodybuilder guy, we should still believe in the rosy fairy tale of absolute fair sport.

***For the record there are MANY clean athletes. The purpose of this blog post was to point out a few things about our perceptions.

About This Blog

I created this blog because ... well ... I wanted to get my thoughts out there. "Another blog ... surely you can't be serious?" I hear you say. I am serious ... and don't call me Shirley.

If you look on the left side of the blog (and scroll down a bit) you'll see a quote from the movie "The Matrix" whose theme captures what I want this blog to. You'll also see a picture of me about to step into another dimension. I really did! I got all the answers to all the questions of life and had lunch with 'Chuck Norris'. But won't bore you with the details. The quote I'm referring to is also below.

"You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inert, so hopelessly dependant on the system, that they will fight to protect it." - Morpheus from the Movie 'The Matrix'

Basically it means (in a simplified way) that people just accept things without questioning. I on the other hand LOVE asking questions which some people are fine with but makes some people very AGITATED. My blog posts will examine anything I happen to feel like questioning or examining on that day.

Now, it's not going to be a heavy blog but it will be both serious and funny. As serious as a hockey dad and as funny as a contractor getting the work done on time and under budget. As serious as a rebel and as funny as a raccoon. I choose the raccoon because it's an animal that always gets your garbage and no matter what you do he won't go away. The 'rebel' part is there to be in your face like 'Chuck Norris' ... kidding ... it was an excuse to show 'Chuck Norris' one more time so if you're tired of seeing 'Chuck Norris' then this will be the last time I link to 'Chuck Norris' for this post. He has powers you know. Actually more like Kyle & Stan in South Park. They're dudes who question everything.

So, enjoy the posts ... leave a comment (disagreements are welcome too) and tell a friend. - Rebel Raccoon

Contact Me

To contact me just send an email to the address below:

rebelraccoon (AT) gmail.com
